Why do you write?
Writing has always been therapeutic for me. Ever since I learned to write at the age of 3, I had been writing, just for the heck of it. In elementary school, I started writing my dreams...that got me in trouble. I had written one dream in a letter to my boyfriend at the time. My mother found the letter and showed it to his parents. Needless to say, I was embarrassed and stopped writing for a while.
I started writing as a form of therapy because homelife was stressful af sometimes. It was toxic before I knew to use the word to accurately describe what was going on. I have written plenty of open letters to people that they will probably never lay eyes on, and that's ok. I wrote them with the intention of releasing my feelings about certain situations that occurred.
Now, I still write for therapeutic reasons, but I also write for entertainment reasons. Writing fiction has given me the ability to take my natural instincts of creating scenarios (I'm a cancer lol) and having "control" over how situations turn out. Writing is fun for me now and I'm glad I was able to discover the love and passion behind it again.
Do you write? What's your why? If not, what hobbies do you enjoy?
