Bloganuary 2023 - Day 25-31

I'm a day late and probably a dollar short, but here it is!

Day 25 - What is a song or poem that speaks to you and why?

The first song that comes to mind that speaks to me is Still I Rise by Yolanda Adams. The reason is simple. Regardless of what goes on in life, or how life comes at me, I still rise. Despite how it looks while I'm going through something, I know that I'm going to come out on top.

Day 26 - What language do you wish you could speak?

I wish I could speak Swahili. I'm learning on Duolingo, so I hope to gain confidence and fluency this year.

Day 27 - What are the pros and cons of procrastination?

Realistically, there are no pros to procrastination. We tell ourselves there are, but there aren't. And the cons are simple. You waste more time getting whatever the task is done, you lose out on whatever "free time" you would have had if you had done the task in the beginning. You force yourself to work under pressure to meet deadlines and you don't have the chance to properly critique and make adjustments as needed. Although procrastination is inevitable at times, try not to make it a habit.

Day 28 - Describe your perfect birthday cake.

I'm a simple girl that likes simple things. My perfect birthday cake would be a strawberry cheesecake. Yes, I'm aware that cheesecake is pie, but whatever. It can be topped with strawberry puree with fresh strawberries on top, or it could be a strawberry swirl cake. If I can't have a cheesecake, I'd take a moist lemon pound or loaf cake.

Day 29 - What is something you learned recently?

I've learned a few more phrases and words in Spanish. I took Spanish in high school, as well as college, but felt like I needed a refresher. I've been using Duolingo for that and I have been learning (and retaining) a lot of the words and phrases that I either forgot or didn't learn in the years of traditional study.

Day 30 - What would you title the chapters of your autobiography?

This is a hilarious topic for me because I'm approaching year 34 and only started thinking about the chapter titles/themes within the last 4-5 years. I would have to group my primary years (1-10) into one chapter. That would be titled Youthful Innocence. I would also group years 11-15 into a chapter and call it, Growing Pains. Ages 16-20 would be Teenage Woes: Navigating the Transition into Ghetto Adulthood. Years 21-26 would be called Maybe It's Not for You: Being Okay with the Possibility of Not Having Kids. Ages 27-29 was definitely HeauxPhaze: Making Up for Lost Time. Once I was 6 months away from turning 30, I took on a new mindset. Year 30 began the era of Focus on You Sis! Phuck These Ninjas. While in the midst of chapter 30, I had a few subtopics. Those were He Ain't Like What You're Used To, Oh, He's a Real Man, Maybe, this is It. I'm excited for the rest of the journey.

Day 31 - Where is the best place to watch the sunset near you?

The best place to watch the sunset would be one of the beaches. There's something about the picturesque reflection view of the sun setting over the water. It's something that not many are able to experience, but it's definitely an awe-inspiring experience.
